My family is experiencing the loss of a loved one. As adults, we can sometimes rationalize why these things happens. My husband's grandmother was the most amazing woman I have ever met. Her love and compassion for others was extraordinary, all while being selfless and giving. It is a true loss to our family. Our seven year old was close to her and is experiencing loss for the first time. Children put things into a new perspective, saying her heart is now broken into one hundred pieces.
I found comfort in photographs, not taking them, but looking over earlier ones. The ones of her playing with the kids were yet too difficult to see. Instead I focused on others that went unnoticed during my processing. Fragile abstracts strong enough to pull me through these dark days.
