Celebrate | Eli is Three!

We celebrated Eli's third birthday on Sunday with family and friends. Eli worked all week mastering holding up three fingers, but that darn pinky still gives him trouble. I can't imagine my world without him; I'm so thankful my husband talked me into "one more". A tradition we do is the birthday person receives breakfast in bed [anything they want] on their birthday. I asked Eli the night before what he'd like for breakfast and he told me candy! The next morning I surprised him with a small bagel, some grapes and a few smarties. Chelsea and Alex didn't think it was fair, but they've never requested candy before. What do yo think they'll ask for on their next birthday... and what have I started?

Eli's cake was store bought :( The 90 degree heat [and living without air] deterred me from even thinking of turning on my oven. He told me he wanted a chocolate cake with green frosting so I was delighted when I found this alligator. He was so happy!

He's been practicing blowing out birthday candles [see Chelsea's birthday celebration below] and finally had a solo opportunity.

Another person that was happy was my sister and her family. My brother-in-law was supposed to be training for a twelve month Iraq deployment. During training, he suffered from heat stroke and was entirely released from the mission. He arrived at Eli's party straight from his flight home. It'll be good for their four children to have him home, and you can see his daughter is all smiles to have him here.
