One Hundred Forty-Six

Alone Time
146/366

Slater and I were excited to have a night on the town alone. We took the L to downtown Evanston, a northern suburb of Chicago. His aunt had made us hotel reservations to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. A night alone without kids is such a thoughtful gift, but I was not expecting to be alone during our wait for the train from Main to Davis.

Luxury

Our beautiful hotel room at Hotel Orrington was decked with red and yellow walls, a stocked mini bar and enough pillows on the bed to make anybody feel comfort.  We didn't spend much time indoors as we wandered our way through Northwestern University, enjoyed dinner at Dixie Kitchen and walked along the lakeshore. The night was still young so we hopped back on the L and headed to Wilmette, an upper class suburb filled with quiet streets and beautiful lakefront homes. It wasn't any wonder why we slept in the following morning. My husband didn't think I'd ever remove the super soft hotel bathrobe :)

Sailboat Heaven

We watched this yellow motorized boat take boat enthusiasts  to and from shore. This marina is in Wilmette just outside of Gilson Park. This particular marina only has sailboats; I'm unsure why, but the view was wonderful.
